After attending Parson's School of Design in NYC, I designed a few
pieces of jewelry for family and friends. I was encouraged to start
my own business and in 1988, Nanette Orijinels was established.
Originally marketed through
local craft shows in NJ, my medium was polymer clay. After my
daughter was born, the focus of my business was on wholesaling.
The first trade show I participated in was in 1993. Within 3 years
it became a wholesale only business, marketing my designs to upscale
boutiques and gift shops, & mail order catalogs, a caster,
I took the plunge, in 2003, invested in equipment and now run
all the casting production in-house. This gives me much more ability
to control my production time and produce new designs quickly.
In 2001, my son was
born, and my little family of "orijinels" continues
to make for a busy life and business!
I have been working with my hands
ever since I can remember. That is how Mom always proudly described me. I always
have my wheels turning, it's hard to stop my creative mind even when I am out
for recreation..
Our designs begin by sculpting
detailed images using intricate details, then they are cast in
pewter. They are embellished with handpainted accents, colorful resin, charms
and Austrian Crystals. All pieces are signed by the artist.".
